Intriguing title! August 7, 2006 R. Coleman (Denver, CO) Clothing Optional is fun, faced paced, enjoyable read. What keeps this story interesting is the diverse cast of characters that come together in an unsuspecting way. I look forward to finding out where else Conlan Daily might turn up.
Can't wat to read more about my new friends! August 9, 2006 Katie Wolfe (Charlotte,NC) If the title and setting of this book don't immediately grab yout atention, the characters will. They all have their own individual stories that unfold throughout the book. By the end, you actually feel as though they are your friends. "Clothing Optional" is a very fun and intriguing read. It is also a nice peek through the window of what some may consider taboo.
Great read! August 21, 2006 Mary E. Evans Clothing Optional has everything you want in a book--great characters, a plot that moves right along and makes you want to know what happens next, plus lots of charming descriptions on Key West, football and life in general. Add the novel twist of a clothing-optional setting and you've found yourself a winner. I highly recommend this book and can't wait for a sequel.

Try something different. August 23, 2006 Stephen Dailey "Clothing Optional" by James Arlandson is an engaging and enjoyable read. At the most basic level, it is the story of a police detective, Conlan Daily, trying to find a killer while also attempting to maintain the safety of other characters, particularly Molly White, manager of the clothing optional guesthouse "Maison de Soleil."
However, the most important theme is the psychological and philosophical development of Daily. Within this focus, the Maison de Soleil itself is a major character.
Mr. Arlandson has taken two standard genre, the "who dunnit" and "boy meets girl," and given them a new twist by placing the story within the context of social nudity.
The skill and sympathy the author employs explaining that subject will delight nudists (myself included), while those unfamiliar with the lifestyle will get an inside look that is rational and realistic.
For an enjoyable poolside read, whether that pool is in your backyard or in a nudist resort, I recommend "Clothing Optional."
Great Mystery!! February 20, 2008 Linda L. LaFond (Minneapolis, MN) Fast paced, intriguing, Det. Daily is someone I would like to meet. Coming from the cold of Minnesota to the warmth of the Florida Keys sets this mystery up for an interesting cast of characters and new-found interests that some didn't realize they could be opened to. I am waiting for Mr. Arlandson's sequel.
